Families2Families Mentors
Sometimes the best support comes from someone who’s been there. Families2Families Mentors are adoptive or guardianship parents who offer support, guidance, resources, and friendship to other adoptive and guardianship parents. Whether it’s sharing resources or simply checking in with a text, mentors help build meaningful connections when they’re needed most. If you’re an adoptive parent or guardian interested in mentoring other families, we’d love to hear from you.
Temporary Newborn Care
Planning for the future takes time. In the case that pregnant women or parents do not have a finalized plan by the time their child arrives, NCHS offers Temporary Newborn Care for their child while they make arrangements. These newborn care homes are situated across the state. If you are interested in becoming a Temporary Newborn Care provider, please reach out to us today.
Childcare for Families
Forever Support Group
Support groups currently meet monthly in Omaha, Lincoln and Grand Island. These groups give adoptive parents and guardians a chance to connect and learn from each other. Childcare providers help make sure parents have time to connect!
Seasonal Landscaping
Take “hands-on” volunteerism to a new level. We need passionate gardeners to help us with planting and landscaping at a variety of service sites in Omaha or Lincoln.
Lace Up To Learn
The right pair of shoes can make all the difference for a child walking into their first day of the school year. Whether they are a student in our Early Childhood Center or off to high school, comfortable, quality shoes can help every child feel confident and ready to learn. Lace Up To Learn relies on corporate sponsors and the support of individuals across Nebraska to ensure every child in our programs starts the year on the right foot.
Annual Gift Card Drive
NCHS works hard to support and give back to the members of our community seeking help. Each year, we host a gift card drive so that we can give parents and caregivers the gift of dignity by allowing them to choose the items their children need most. See how you can help make an impact in family’s life by donating today.
Practicum Opportunities
For college students looking to expand their skillset and gain experience in a wide range of areas, NCHS offers many different practicum sessions. For more information about specific practicum topics and for steps on how to register for these sessions, be sure to reach out to our team. Our offerings are always evolving, so be sure to check back frequently for the most up-to-date information!
